International Strategy
The educational programs of the European University of the Atlantic foster collaboration and cooperation between nations to enrich the student’s education with a clear international vocation, guaranteeing an education model with effective results based on an investment that goes beyond basic education that focuses on knowledge, and institutional and individual learning. All this because the educational model offers overall high-quality education. One of the University's main objectives is to project itself internationally, specifically by strengthening its relations with both European and non-European countries. Our educational model considers educational and pedagogical innovation as the cornerstone that facilitates, enhances, and promotes a learning-to-learn process within a high-quality learning environment, which allows:
- That student to able to function in a multicultural setting, an aspect of special relevance if we consider the current importance of internationalization in business and relations.
- fostering cooperation and reciprocity: learning as a collective effort.
- taking advantage of the possibilities that ICT offer in interacting with citizens and institutions from various countries.
- encouraging and promoting the continuous communication and interaction between professors and students from several countries.
- implementing a strategy to establish relationships and alliances with universities and institutions from different countries.
- fostering the participation of foreign students via exchange and cooperation programs and via the implementation of language courses.
- personalizing learning, taking into account the differences between students and their diverse ways of learning.
The main objectives of the mobility will be the exchange of students, exchange of the teaching staff and the administrative staff. The university also counts on a generous offer of Dual Degree Programs and is currently for possible collaborations with other institutions to create dual degrees.
Erasmus+ Program Organization
The European University of the Atlantic, in collaboration with the Iberoamerican University Foundation (FUNIBER), an institution closely related to the university, participates in cooperation projects in and out of Europe.
It is of vital interest for the university to participate as a partner or as a leader in projects together with higher education institutions with whom it shares common interests. First, the projects related with business, nutrition, sports, languages, psychology, and engineering will be prioritized. The idea is to look for projects that have been suggested by other universities or to create original projects that are transversal while integrating/combining several academic areas. In other words, the projects need to cover more than one area (languages and psychology, nutrition and sports, or languages) as this would be a great benefit for both professors and students.
The result must be satisfactory for both the participating universities and the regions they are located in. The aim is to look for results that have an impact on the university and society in teaching and research, and within development and innovation.
Innovation projects are channeled and managed via the CITICAN Cantabria Center for Industrial Research and Technology, an interdependent organization of the European University of the Atlantic. CITICAN has an organizational structure with management and administrative staff, and actively participates in local, regional, and international projects. The objective is now to extend the scope of activities to achieve greater internationalization. For said reason, support for ERASMUS+ will be a key to enhancing more projects in more diverse areas with the participation and involvement of its entire university community members.
Erasmus+ Impact
Participation in the Erasmus+ 2021-2 program is paramount to the institution's internationalization strategy in order to support our objectives:
- Fostering cooperation and reciprocity: learning as a collective effort.
- Taking advantage of the possibilities offered by ICTs to interact with citizens and institutions in different countries.
- Encouraging and promoting continuous communication and interaction between professors and students from various countries.
- Implementing a strategy to establish relationships and partnerships with international universities and institutions.
- Encouraging the participation of foreign students through exchange and cooperation programs, and the implementation of language courses.
- Personalize the knowledge acquisition process by considering the differences among students and their different ways of learning.
This will be achieved by utilizing periods of mobility for students and faculty/administrative staff, taking advantage of inter-institutional agreements to foster collaboration in areas such as joint research, exchange of best practices, and development of joint degrees.
More than 4,100 students and 210 faculty and staff members are potentially eligible for these activities. After the success of our participation in the previous program, internationalization activities under the Erasmus umbrella are now part of the backbone of the university and are a source of commitment and satisfaction for our community.
Expected results include:
- Increasing the internationalization culture of the university community.
- Improving our processes and methodologies.
- Establishing strategic partnerships with other Higher Education Institutions.
- Developing joint programs.
- Improving overall student/staff satisfaction.
